Wipe old drive

Thread solved

I cloned my old drive to the new SSD with the Sabrent "adapter cable.

1. Worked as planned.

2. Swapped the drives out

3. After removing the old drive I Hooked the adapter cable to old drive to wipe it clean.

Acronis software won't let me.  It says I must have at least one drive connected to perform task.

Any help on wiping old drive appreciated

Kevin

Kevin, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you are intending to reuse the old drive for yourself then the Acronis Drive Cleanser tool is going to be overkill as it is intended to render any data on that drive to be unrecoverable even to forensic tools.

All you need to do is to use the normal Windows tools to delete the partitions on the old drive then reformat the drive ready to reuse it.

The issue with the OEM version of Acronis provided with hardware purchases is that it places limitations on how it can be used, i.e. that it has to be able to recognise a drive by the same OEM maker that provided the tool, but some drives are not recognised when connected via external adapters.

Steve;

Thanks for reaching out.  I had that feeling.  When I reinstall the old drive to wipe the drive it says sort of "drive in use cannot delete".

Haven't tired but I assume a different boot will help
