Working with tasks

Thread needs solution

I have True Image Home 11.

I would like to set up tasks to decrease the time to backup my most critical data. I set up a task to back up the whole disk and then exclude the paths I don't want (which is most of my computer).

My questions:

1) Is there a way to reverse this and backup the files paths you want to include rather backing up everything except those you exclude?

2) Assuming you can only exclude paths, is there a way to copy the entire task (i.e. duplicate the task) and then edit it so that I don't have to add all the excluded paths again?

3) Supposing I have a task set up to back up a set of files (with excluded paths, etc) and it is set up for a full backup. Do I need to create an entirely new task that backs up the same data (with same excluded paths) that does an incremental backup?

Thanks,

1. No, is the short answer.

2. The most reliable method is to make a new task. I can't recall if v11 had the facility to copy tasks (2009 and 2010 do), but as it doesn't always work as expected in the later version, a new task is the least problematic.

3. Depends. Assuming when you set up the task you selected FULL then you will need to make a new task, browsing to the FULL tib file and then selecting incremental as the imaging type.

The best way of doing this for future tasks is to select Incremental when given the imaging type, TI will then perform a FULL if the file doesn't exist and then create incrementals afterwards.
