Yet another poor version of the software

Thread needs solution

I have purchased and used Acronis for years and each year the program becomes worse and worse.

I bought the 2012 version and when it failed to load properly I simply continued to use 2011

Now because of a discount offer, I purchased 2015 Build 6525. What a hideous release.

Firstly I find the new 'flat' full screen window design to be ridiculous and impossible to see other things going on on the Desktop. Just because this format is 'trending' does not make it good for software presentations. Looks like Windows 3.1 format.

Yes you have patents for some of your technology but your presentation for the user gets worse and worse. Do your programmer's know nothing about user friendliness. If they do, they obviously don't know what they are doing.

I decided to Clone one 2.5" drive attached via USB to my computer to another 2.5" drive attached to another USB port.

Select source .... now wait for a long time while it initializes ....much quicker in the 2013 version
Select destination - again wait for a long time while it initializes .... much quicker in the 2013 version
Proceed.... and now the greatest fault of all .... Nothing, absolutely nothing appears on the screen to show the user what is going on.... what the #s%&*//??.

Finally see a tiny Acronis icon next to the clock... hover over it once you realize its there and and it says cloning 23%... Right click and choose the option Status --- one assumes this will open the hidden dialogue box so I can watch the progress. Not so.... it takes you to the main app Backup summary screen with nothing about my cloning process. Again what the #s%&*//??.

What high paid developer got paid to create this 'feature' in the program?

At the end of the process if you keep returning to hover over the tiny icon to know its done, the process reports write errors to the disk. (see file attachment for one of the 12 or so errors) I know it was a good disk so what the #s%&*//??. Unplugged the drive and installed it into a laptop and it worked perfectly so why the errors.

Thought I would try another destination driver and again it reports the **** exact same errors **** on that drive. No coincidence here..... just another failure form Acronis to provide working software.

Did I mention they sell this at a discount.... now I know why.......

What this actually tells us is that there's another application most likely your antivirus locking access to the disk from Acronis.

You are not following good conduct. We are not the developers. I happen to think 2015 is a great release, although I am also having trouble with it at the moment.

P.S Could you please attach your acronis system report from inside Acronis?

Thank you.

So you think reporting serious flaws in the program is bad conduct. If Acronis wants to *** hide *** their poor performance so be it.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials for AV and have Malwarebytes Premium running. I do not like to reveal information about my computer.

If you are not the developers.... who are you? Acronis employ you for what purpose?

I don't think you will find anyone here employed by Acronis, just users trying to share and help each other out. Some of them take a great amount of time learning and sharing knowledge. Also, nothing wrong with discussing flaws with Acronis software. I am on 2013 and it is reasonably stable, somewhere during an update they fixed it so my recovery disk stopped the mouse from working, but I can work around that issue with old recovery disk or alt, shift and num lock.

I thought about taking advantage of upgrading, but know from long experience that Acronis upgrades come with pains. heck, I have to jump through hoops with Windows images and their recovery disk as it won't see my USB 3.0 controller/drive.

I do wish Acronis just had a basic image backup like was in version 8, keep it simple and sell another version with all the gadgets. Macirum makes a simple free backup, does a super job making a recovery disk, found all my USB 3.0 equipment and allowed me to choose what I had put on the Windows recovery disk, don't care much for recovery interface, but didn't try hard either.

Agree that Acronis developers do not seem to understand users or maybe just don't care about being upward compatibility. I don't know where Acronis is even developed, but they need some improvement in this area. However, that is not the fault of the people helping out on this forum.

You do realize that there is no free version. Its a 30day trial version. Unless you have found something that I don't know about ?

I was going by their site here: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

I stand corrected. That must be fairly new. I looked at my link of that same page that you referenced, and it doesn't show a free version.

Thanks
