Acronis and the Boot Camp partition
I have been an Acronis PC user for many years but have no experience with the Mac product. I did a search to try to get this question answered, but without any success so I am posting it here hoping that someone can give me the information I need.
I am using a MacBook Pro and I now find myself with a Boot Camp partition running Windows 10 and my Mac backup software will not backup and restore a Boot Camp partition in such a manner that it can actually be used. Apparently it is only for backing up the data in the partition. I noticed that Acronis now has Mac support so I began to wonder if it might solve my problems. Here is what I need to be able to do:
1) Back up the Boot Camp partition in such a way that I could restore it and use the partition again, even if something I had done had corrupted the partition.
2) Be able to access the partition backup to retrieve files without doing a restore.
I do not need to be able to boot off of the backed up partition, only to restore it and have it functional. Will Acronis do this for me? Does the app run on the Mac side? Or on the Windows side? If on the Windows side, how could I restore the partition if I can not boot to Windows? With the PC there was always the Acronis boot disc but I don't know if that would work on a Mac with only a Boot Camp partition.
Any help would be appreciated. I tried to call Acronis Sales to find out, but apparently there is no such sales help number.
Thank you in advance.
