Acronis True image, 2018 MACHigh jacking startup

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

Has anyone else noticed a problem where Acronis True image 2018 seems to highjack the start up on mac, forcing users to use it, not using traditional means for start-up processes?

The app will start up with the mac, causing it to hit 90C which is unsafe!

Usually applications which "ask" for start-up rights will be placed in a location in "settings > users > login items" with an option to untick it, if the start-up item is causing problems, allowing the user to start it up again when they need it.

Now i understand that Acronis have bundled in a protection app called "active protection", but those of us who purchased this software to "back up their mac", and do not want this, should have the option to choose, rather than being forced!

I have made serval support calls about this, and i keep getting asked to reinstall and for an "error" message!

Now i have already checked all this and i say again, the app should not be forcing users to use active protection and have the application running at start up if the user does not want it to.

Please can you sort this out acronis, your older application (true image 2017) did not do this, so i do not understand the need to force users in 2018.

Please others post here, if your experiencing this same worrying problem.

Kind regards

H

Hussain Muslu,  what is the latest news about your over-heating problem.

I am thinking about purchasing Acronis TI 2018.  Are you sure it's this program that is making your Mac run hot?

The best test is to completely uninstall Acronis ( https://kb.acronis.com/content/48668#Mac1 ) and see if your computer runs normally.

I agree with you about user having the option to toggle "Active Protection" on or off.  That would be an important option for me as well.  I am holding off buying 2018 for now.

Hello hussain,

Have you tried to disable Active Protection in the dashboard? With the option disabled in the dashboard the Active Protection service won't start scanning the processes at the startup. If your Mac is still overheating even in the time when a backup job is not running and the issue doesn't reproduce with Acronis True Image uninstalled, then I'd recommend to continue investigating the issue with the support team to find the root cause.
