ATI 2019: Windows & Mac Survival Kits on same USB HDD?
Can I put Survival Kits for 2 Macs and 1 Windows PC on the same USB HDD?
I know how to format HDDs and create partitions with Windows and OSX but I'm hazy about the requirements to boot from an external HDD. I'm also new to ATI and confused by the description of Survival Kits in the ATI 2019 manuals.
If I format the HDD with OSX's Disk Utility as a single, OSX Extended (Journaled) partition, will ATI on Windows and OSX both be able to backup to it or do I need to create separate partitions for the Windows and for each OSX backup?
The description of the Survival Kit says, "Acronis True Image 2019 creates a small partition on the selected drive and writes the boot files there. To create it, one of the existing volumes will be resized." If I create a survival kit from each of the three machines, will ATI create a separate boot partition for each? Where does the space come from; i.e., what does "existing volumes" mean?
When I do future backups, do I run the Survival Kit tool again or just point to the TIB file the Survival Kit created? Will it do an incremental or full backup?
If putting multiple Survival Kits on the same HDD won't work, could someone please point to another way to backup all 3 systems on one HDD? I keep one backup HDD at home and one in a safe deposit box and swap them periodically. Having 2 sets of separate HDDs for each system would be a nuisance.
