Backup/Restore with convert case sensitive to non case sensitive Volume

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I look for a solution to backup my MacBook Pro with APFS case sensitiv Filesystem.

After Backup delete the partition and crate an new one with APFS and not case sensitiv. Now I want to restore all Data, Software and operating system.

Is this possible?

Regards

Christian

Hello Chrstian,

If you create a backup of an APFS (Case-sensitive) system, then perform conversion and restore the whole drive back, the file system on your Mac will become APFS (Case-sensitive) again because the image has been captured from the APFS (Case-sensitive) drive. You can only restore individual files in this case. Recovery on the drive/partitions level includes recovery of the drive properties such as the files system.
