Cannot create Acronis Bootable Media - Mac Catalina/MacBook Pro with T2 chip

Thread needs solution

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with the T2 chip. I just installed Acronis 2020, did the update to 24.4 so I have the latest build. When I try to create bootable media, or a rescue disk, it continually prompts me to change the startup settings by going into recovery mode. I have set the settings as directed (medium security/allow external boot), but it continually gives me the same prompt. I even turned off all security and allow external boot and continue to get the same response. I am using a Samsung T5 external SSD for my backup device. Is there any solution to this? I have reformatted the disk as APFS, MacOX Extended Journaled, and ExFat with no success. Anyone else with this problem or am I missing something? Thanks!

Hello VineRider,

thank you for your posting! Please refer to the article Acronis True Image on Mac: Changing startup options on Apple T2 chip, which provides information on how to boot from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media if you have a Mac with the Apple T2 chip. Should the issue still persist, please contact Acronis support team for assistance.

I have followed the instructions exactly, and the software continually prompts me to make those changes.  It never allows me to create the bootable media.

exact same problem. even with secure boot setting to "no security" ATI won't recognize the settings and constantly ask to change these settings.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for reporting!

The new Macs with Catalina have changed the way T2 chips send their settings.

We have created a bug TI-178973.

Will be fixed in the next update (planned to end of November).

Hi Renata,

After trying to create a bootable media for a whole day!!!!, I now found your message. Why didn't Acronis post this message on a prominent place?? So apparently the focus of Acronis still is on Windows users. Very disgraceful.

Regards

Hello

I have the same problem cannot create rescue bootable and create survival kit. This is under investigation by support and hope to get a solution soon.

Hi

My issue is solved today by updating Acronis 2020 by an update sent to me by Support.

Now I can create survival kit as well as bootable USB. Both tested and able to boot and can select backup files.

Regards

Hi, I also have the same problem. The software can't allow me to create a rescue USB or survival kit. Asking me to turn off the T2 security, already done and continue with the same message. Thanks with any help.
