Cannot create recovery media: OS X Recovery cannot be found
The title pretty much says it all. I cannot try to recover data from my backup files in any manner because when I try to create bootable media on a USB stick I get the message:
"An error occurred while creating media.
Failed to create bootable media, because OS X Recovery could not be found."
It is also the case that a previously created USB Stick with the backup media, for Mac OSX 10.10 will not boot the computer, despite the fact that it has before. This is a late 2013 iMac.
This is fairly absurd. How do I make the product work? I am running Acronis True Image for PC and Mac V 1.0.6564 and no later version seems to be available to me. I'd use Universal restore created in Windows (same machine) but it stops due to an apparently missing driver....a driver that doesn't seem to exist anywhere in the world let alone on my machine.

Hello Banango,
I apologize for the delayed answer.
The error "An error occurred while creating media. Failed to create bootable media, because OS X Recovery could not be found." means, that Recovery HD does not exist or is damaged. And Acronis Bootable Media is created on base of Recovery HD.
There might be different causes, why the Recovery HD is missing or is damaged.
I would suggest to refer to the following articles:

I am having the same issue on my MAC. I have noticed that Acronis does not work well at all with MAC. I was never able to get it a solid scheduled backup; it is always failing. Even when I tried to create a rescue USB, It never passed, and still failed.
Best to user superduper it is much faster and robust.

Hello, could you provide more details on the issues? What are the error messages? Have you contacted Acronis Support on this?

Thank you!
As in the demand above, this error does not depend on Acronis True Image, unfortunately. Acronis True Image uses the macOS Recovery HD to build the bootable media on.
If your Recovery HD is damaged/mismatching the OS version/does not exist, the bootable media creation fails as Acronis True Image does not have the OS base to build it on.
The same articles as above may help to update the Recovery partition on your Mac:
