Can't find a way to use schedule in background without App running
Hello, I've looked for any preferences to allow me to have Acronis launch automaticaly for a scheduled back up. What am I missing?
thanks.

Thanks for the response, Rusian, but I wasn't clear. I have set up a schedule.
However, does Acronis have to be running for the scheduled backup to take place, or is there something running in the background so I don't always have to have the Aplication running? TimeMachine works in the background, and I must assume Acronis does too.

Sorry for misunderstanding your question.
Yes, True Image for Mac should be running backup tasks on schedule automatically in background. There is no need to open user interface to run backups.
You can easily check if you have it working. Create new backup plan or open old one and set schedule so that backup task would start in few minutes. Close user interface and wait for scheduled time. After a minute open user interface and check backup plan progress bar.

Thank you, it seems to be working as you said:). One more question, that I can't seem to find online, is there a way to overwrite the backup so it doesn't append a previous backup? I want to write a new image every night without using up all my drive space.

Hi Stephen,
in current program version it is not possible to set up the program to overwrite a single backup file each time automatically.
However, you might not need it because in the second and subsequent backup versions only changes are stored and maximum number of versions is 10. When you create the eleventh version, Acronis True Image 2016 automatically deletes the oldest version of the backup. As a result, you always have the ten most recent backup versions.
Please read more about basic concepts in this article.
Thank you,

I still have a problem with running the backup task on schedule automatically in the background. With Acronis True Image 2016 for Mac under El Capitan the scheduled backup task is only running when Acronis True Image is running too. So I have every time some minutes before the scheduled time to start Arconis True Image because otherwise there is no backup - it will happen nothing.
This is very uncomfortable. Which need has schedule when I have to start the software before by hand ??
So Ruslan writes "Yes, True Image for Mac should be running backup tasks on schedule automatically in background." Does you know why this is not working on my iMac ??

Hello turner1948,
to investigate this issue I'll need 2 system reports from your machine. Please do following:
- 1. Go to our knowledge base site and download system report script from this article: Acronis True Image for Mac: Acronis System Report.
- 2. Create new backup plan and schedule it to the closest time.
- 3. Close True Image 2016 for Mac.
- 4. After backup fails to start, run the script which was downloaded in the first step.
- 5. Rename the collected system report somehow so that it is clear that this report for backup which failed to start.
- 6. Run True Image 2016 for Mac once again and reschedule backup to another nearest time.
- 7. Do not close user interface.
- 8. Wait for backing up to start.
- 9. Once the process is finished, run the script once again.
- 10. Attach both system reports to this thread.
Thank you.

Hello Ruslan,
thank you for your help - but meanwhile it works suddenly without any problem - I don't know why. The only problem is, that Acronis True Image 2016 starts the scheduled procedure every day 2-5 minutes later than schedulded. Perhaps Acronis True Image 2016 has another time of day.
