Failed to create bootable media - Failed to find BaseSystem.dmg

Thread needs solution

I have Mojave 10.14.2 installed on my Macbook Air and I use Acronis True Image 2017 for Mac.

I want to create a rescue media. I already have an old media with Acronis 2015 and OS X Yosemite. When I run the Create rescue media in Acronis 2017 I get an error.

Looking for version 10.14 of BaseSystem.dmg

I'm however able to boot into recovery mode using Cmd+R and I do see Install OS which starts Mojave installation. I also see that Recovery partition exists on my main drive when running diskutil list.

Do you have any suggestions how to check what is wrong and how to fix it?

Where should be BaseSystem.dmg located? How I can I check its version?

Hello Milan,

welcome to Acronis forums!

The possible cause of the issue could be different versions of the Mac OS and the recovery HD. Please make sure the recovery HD on your Mac is also of 10.14.2 version (see https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/217601/how-can-i-tell-what-version-of-recovery-hd-os-is-running-while-im-booted-to-the

Alternatively, you can download the files from another Mac with 10.14.2
/com.apple.recovery.boot/SystemVersion.plist
/com.apple.recovery.boot/BaseSystem.dmg

and copy to the Mac where you want to create the bootable media.

Note: Mojave (10.14) is officially supported only starting with Acronis True Image 2019, earlier versions have not been tested and are not guaranteed to work with Mojave.
