files starting with a dot are not backed up

Thread needs solution

I am backing up several files from my home folder starting with a dot (for example .gitignore) or from directories starting with a dot (for example .boot/boot.properties) to an encrypted file called dotfiles.tib.

However, when I want to recover this backup on another Mac machine, I don't see the files starting with a dot:

When I recover the entire home folder (borkdude) then I see that the files starting with a dot are restored. But the UI doesn't allow to restore individual files.

Hello Michiel,

thank you for your posting! According to the RnD, the visibility of .-files in the recovery source depends on the settings in Finder. Finder should be configured to display .-files permanently.
