Recovery

Thread needs solution

Hello Jn.

By default OS X has an Recovery HD partition.
But there are some known issues with Recovery HD by update or installation of some OS X versions (please as example see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6604189).
As a workaround we can suggest the following:
1) reinstallation of OS X might help in some cases
2) to create Recovery HD on an external drive (ways: installation of OS X to external drive OR creation of Recovery HD on external drive using the workaround 3 below)
3) there are some workarounds which you can use on your own risk:
Recovery HD is missing or corrupt
Please see how to fix or create a Recovery HD: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6604189 (i.e. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1756752)

Please keep in mind, that versions of Recovery HD and OS X should be the same (e.g. 10.9 and 10.9, 10.10 and 10.10), otherwise Media might not work properly.

Kind regards,
