True Image for MAC not finding Boot Drive as Source

Thread needs solution

Sorry, new user of product for Mac. ( Have been an Acronis user on Windows for years and just bought the MAC version).

The interface is very sparse and different. Not a problem. I can easily find and select my preferred external drive as the destination. However the Source selection is not allowing me to select the internal drive that contains my OS and Programs.

Source is only showing a single choice which happens to be an external drive and is USB connected. No internal HDD shows and there is no apparent user ability to add additional choices to select from (no browse function)

Anyone have similar experience? How do you solve this?

Thanks,

Lou

Refined information:

True Image MAC is registered and apparently properly installed on my MAC along with Parallels , which it was sold as a package with as a special deal by NewEgg. They are supposed to work together.

True Image Is not showing my MAC;s HDD Volume n either the source or the destination drop downs. Is=t is showing NOTHING in the source and only shows the Acronis Cloud as a potential destination. I have been totally unsuccessful in getting in touch with Acronis directly to get support on this issue with the product.

Never had such problems with the Windows version . A bit surprised at this. Not sure why the problem is so apparently insurmountable.

Tonight or tomorrow, I am going to try deinstalling the True Image for MAC product entirely and (after disconnecting all USB drives from my MAC so the only drive available is the HDD which is also the boot volume) will try reinstalling all over again.. Perhaps this time True Image will be able to identify and find my Boot drive.

PS: I do not have bootcamp enabled on this Mavericks machine. I do have Parallels 9 installed, but that product is actually soled together as a set with True Image for Mac to be used together and they are supposed to be compatible. SO let's see if this works. Unfortunately, There has not been any help coming from ACronis, nor do their help pages or FAQs seem to deal with this issue. A disappointment.

Hello Louis,

sorry for the delayed answer!

Can you please send me your serial number in a PM so that I could create a support case for you?

Thank you.

Thank you Anna. I actually opened a support ticket with Acronis and they had me run a script that took several Meg's of diagnostic information. Turns out that True Image for Mac is Incompatible with Macs that have two HDs running in Raid 1 for speed.

Unfortunately, this is not a documented limitation listed on the True Image for Mac box nor is it listed on the advertising web pages. The product is unusable for me with my Mac according to Acronis.

Acronis will not honor a refund because I purchased it from an Acronis reseller. The Reseller will not honor the warranty even though the product will not work on my Mac because the box was opened. A true "catch 22" situation. How could I possibly know it would not work when the limitation was not published on the box?

I am very unhappy BOTH with Acronis and with The reseller whose name starts with the letter "N"

After being a very happy customer of Acronis products for many years, I find this poorly documented, functioning, and supported product not worthy of what I would have expected from Acronis or it's reseller.

I cannot be more displeased with both of them. What a waste!

Hello Louis,

we information about supported and not supported backup sources/destinations in our KB and in user guide.

I'm very sorry that you found it difficult to find and I've forwarded your feedback to responsible people. Please be sure that it will be carefully considered and used for further improvements.

Thank you.

Thanks Anna. However I disagree as the information posted is not at all clear. It shows Hard drives as being compatible . Then without explanation of what this means (external NAS for example. External drives etc. )way down at the bottom it shows a separate listing for Apple Raid, which implies that this is different from the internal Hard Drives within a Mac itself. The documentation is at best misleading or ambiguous.

Please note that other products designed and marketed to "clone" and or backup images of Macs including the ability to boot from the results, work just fine with Apple Raid, that is internal to a Mac. An example is "Superduper".

I would have never guesses that the Acronis product would be without this capability.

I encountered the same problem, and totally agree the documentation is NOT ADEQUATE on this point.  Money wasted on Acronis once; NEVER AGAIN!!!

And I will share this with all my friends.
