Type of Backups and Mac vs. PC

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I'm new so I apologize in advance if I missed something obvious in the manual, FAQ or forum--but I did look at each before posting.

Does TI 2017 for MacOS allow me to choose the type of backups to Acronis Cloud and external drives (full vs. differential/incremental)? I saw a post from a year ago that stated TI 2015 for Mac didn't have that capability but I haven't seen any more recent info.

Also, since the PC version appears to be more robust than the MacOS version can I uninstall the Mac version and download and run the PC version with my 2 year, 1 license that I purchased in Oct. 2016? I mirror the documents that I want to back up on both computers so it's not that big a deal which I back up to the cloud.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Cloud backups use a unique algorithm.  It basically scans the disk and only backups up delta changes with each backup.  There is no inc or diff scheme because of how it handles this.  You can basically stop a backup, shutdown the computer, anytime you want and then it will scan the drive again the next time it is set to run and check for differences with what's stored in the cloud and on the drive and continue chugging along again.

I'd agree the PC versio is more robust/mature.  It's been aroudn longer and Mac support just started in 2015 and hasnt' caught up (in my opinion). Yes, you can move a license to any system you want - Mac or PC.  As long as you only run it on the number of systems you have licenese for at a time.  If it says you have exceeded your liceneses, you just log in through the app and it asks you to disable it from another machine (the old one) and then it will license on teh new install.

If you only have the 1 license, I'd go with time machine for the Mac and Acronis on the Windows side as well.
