Upgrade?

This is sad, I don't like to complain so often, but I'm just wondering what kind of hands has Acronis landed in... To make the long story short:
1- I've been an Acronis user since version 10 for Windows
2- I bought Acronis for Mac because I needed an incremental backup solution, and I already knew this is a very good one.
3- Acronis for Mac is lacking compared to Windows version, but it was just right for my needs... so far.
4- Acronis miserably failed to restore a VMWare Fusion VM, so I had to complain about it.
5- Tech support in this forum kindly reproduced the issue and promised a fix in new releases/patches.
6- Acronis has been offering updates since then, and I've installed and tested them even though I cannot use it as my primary backup because it does not backup VMs well.
7- I've been asking in this forum about the promised fix... nothing so far, a short answer from time to time saying it will be solved in some future issue.
8- TODAY, I downloaded the offered update, and it asked me for a license number. When I entered the one I purchased, I found it won't work, and checking the website I found Acronis 2016 to be an "upgrade" and not an "update" so... Do I have to pay for the new version just to have an error in the old one solved.... some day in the future?
Is that the way to treat your customers? Or am I wrong and you have a solution for the ones who have pending issues?

Hello, jlsardinas@xone.es.
I have checked with the latest version of Acronis True Image 2015 which is version 1.0.6680 and it does not propose to update or upgrade.
What is the version of product you are using? You can find this information in "About Acronis True Image" section in "Acronis True Image" drop-down menu.
Thank you.

I'm using version 1.0.6725 (I restored it from backup since higher versions are not recognizing my product key, since it's another product) I have no concerns about it offering upgrades or updates, I'm not interested in more features as I've already stated here... The problem I have is a BUG, something that does not work as expected, and fact that I have to purchase another product in order to have it solved. If this bug is going to be solved in 2015 version that's good for me, and that's the question I was asking before. I understand I cannot use a newer product with an old key, but I DO expect bugs to solved in my older version.
