Android backups

Thread needs solution

Hello,

What exactly is being backed up from an Android 4.4.1 device?  Is there a way to back up the whole device, including Apps and app data, or just photos, music, etc. files?   Is there a way restore the whole device, incl. apps and data, after a factory reset?

Thanks.

There is no way to backup or image the entire device. Android OS does not make that possible. I believe that apps are also not backed up, nor settings. It will back up various user files such as photos.

As it isn't a complete system backup then, no, there's no way to restore the entire system after a reset.

Tuttle is correct - Android and iOS both limit access to the file subsystem unless the device is rooted or jailbroken which are not supported - even if your device is rooted or jailbroken (because those are hacks with security risks).  Due to the limitations imposed by Google and Apple, only personal data (pictures, videos, contacts, etc can be backed up with Acronis or other third party backup programs).  If you want a full mobile backup, use your manufacturer provided tool to backup the full device and store that to PC, then take a PC backup with Acronis to backup that mobile backup.

Key features

The mobile app allows you to:

  • Back up your personal data to the cloud storage
  • Automatically back up new and changed data
  • Access online backups from all your mobile devices and recover data from these backups

What data can I back up?

You can back up the following types of data:

  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Contacts
  • Calendars
  • Reminders

You're welcome - better to know than not.

The continuous backup is running all the time. I have selected Manual Backup Only from the Settings menu but it doesn't stop the continuous backup! I've tried rebooting my phone, no change! Powering it down - no change. I'd rather not have this app running in the background especially since it has access to nearly all of my data! I have a Galaxy 7.

Hello Charles,

I'd re-install the app. Should you have any issues after the re-installation, please start a new discussion at Acronis True Image for mobile devices (click on New topic at the top of the page).
