How to delete mobile backups

Thread needs solution

Hello

Does anyone know if it's possible to (permanently) delete mobile backups?

You can delete them from the online dashboard but they remain visible in the mobile app on my phone.
I can see them in the access and recovery tab under "Mobile Backups". The current actual backup is seen under "This device" (screenshot)

So I would like to get rid of the Mobile backups (try-outs from the past)

Does anyone know how ? (If it's even possible)

Thanks for your reply

Kind regards

RHE

Hello RHE,

Currently it is not possible to delete backups from the app itself. Backups will be deleted only when Acronis Cloud subscription expires.

If you submit a ticket, we could delete backups from our side as per your request.

Hello Slava

Thank you for your reply.
The above mentionned situation has been resolved and the backups are deleted - thank you for that.

I would like to suggest to make it in the future possible to delete backups from mobile devices so the user can stay in control of the data that is stored in the cloud.

Thank you

Kind regards

RHE

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question but giving it a go anyway.

I currently hve TrueImage 2017, build 8053. Mobile backup to my Windows 10 PC from a Samsung S6 was easy to install and I'm using it. It's created a tibx file and is busily filling it with backups.

My problem seems to be that it's now nearly 2GB, and I can't find any way to delete any of the backups. I can see them, and see all the files, but I can't delete the old ones. Neither can I change the security on them so as to allow me to delete them.

Can anybody let me know how to accomplish this so that my .tibx file doesn't eventually take over my disk.

Bobh

Hello Bob

It seems to me as if you don't have enough rights to delete the .tibx file. When I look here on my PC I see that Administrator rights are needed to be able to delete the file. I tried here and I can delete the file without any problem. The owner of the file is "\MyPC\Administrators"
Do you have admin rights ?

Have you tried deleting the entire backup from the Acronis UI and starting all over again with a new backup ?

Kind regards

RHE

Hi RHE

Thanks for your reply. I can delete the .tibx file no problem. What I was trying to do was delete some of the old backup folders within the .tibx file. It doesn't seem to matter whether I look at them from within True Image, or by opening the vitual disk  (G: on my PC), not only can I not delete them, I can't change the security properties to allow me to delete them.

The only option I have is to delete the .tibx file every now and then, which is a pity because True Image dor Mobile Devices is a really useful utility.

Bob, all backup image files, .TIB or .TIBX are read/only files so you cannot change the contents of these files.  This has been the case across a number of recent versions of the product - it is a long time back since Acronis offered read/write access to image files.

If you need to change an image file, then you should start a new backup and exclude the folders that should not be in the image.

Thanks Steve,

What I meant was that True Image for Mobile Devices adds to the .tibx file a folder named with the date and time of the backup, and containing all the files and folders being backed up. The .tibx file increases in size by one of these folders each time the backup runs. So the .tibx file isn't read-only for True Image, just for me.

From what you've said, it seems that there isn't any way to delete any folders from inside a .tibx file, and my only option is to keep an eye on the size of the .tibx file itself, and delete it every now and then. That's not too much of a hardship considering how easy True Image has made the phone backups. It'd be nice if, at some point in the future, Acronis automated the number of backups to be kept by True Image for Mobile Devices in the same way that it does with other backups. But until then I'll just delete it once a week (or until I forget about it and one day my disk gets full and I wonder why) :-)
