Restore mobile device from backup

Thread needs solution

Can someone explain how I can restore a mobile device from a PC backup? Device was being backed up by Acronis to a PC. Then it was reset completely, how can I connect it to the existing backup and restore it? Acronis interface is borderline unusable in that sense.

Vladimir, welcome to these User Forums.

Please see the ATIH 2018 User Guide: Recovering mobile data which covers how to restore your mobile data from a PC backup.

The above DOES NOT WORK! Recovering mobile data is a waste of time. I can only see the last backup from the mobile app. I can see all backups from the computer but can't restore. Only the last back is accessible from the mobile app. I've read and followed Recovering mobile data several times but still can't restore files stored on computer. As a result I have 90.5 Gb of drive space just wasted! WHAT'S the point of having backup that can't be restored. Not only that, these wasted files can't be deleted without completely deleting the entire backup. The mobile backup is a farce.

Hello Rod,

When you run a new backup of your mobile device, the new backed up data is written to the same archive, so yes, there is no possibility to select the "recovery point" like on PC, but all your old data is still in the archive, you can browse through the backed up files and select what you need.

For some reason Acronis decided to refer to my backed-up mobile files as being on a non-existent drive N: - so while the .tibx file is actually in c:\programdata\... I can't get to it from the PC application to browse... I am successfully restoring to my phone though.

Roger, please see forum topic: Phone backup (recovery) - for a guided walk through the mobile recovery process with screen images.
