Backup file disappears after Windows reboot

Thread needs solution

I boot Acronis True Image 2019 from the original CD and use it to create offline backups to a different internal drive.
I have been doing this for several years with many versions of ATI.
What is new now, is that after creating the backup, whether with the Linux version or with a WinPE version, after rebooting into Windows 10 (22H2), Explorer shows for a short time the backup file just created, but it disappears after one or two minutes. So, the backup image is gone.
Acronis Active Protection is turned on and Bitdefender Antivirus Free is active.
Why and who deletes the backup image???
Any Idea?

Many thanks

Kurt

Hello Kurt.

Bitdefender being an active antivirus program, might flag the newly created backup image as potentially harmful and remove it to protect your system.

Please check the following KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/36429

You can also try the following solutions:

  1. Temporarily Disable Bitdefender Antivirus: Similarly, try disabling Bitdefender Antivirus temporarily while creating the backup to see if it prevents the backup file from being deleted.

  2. Check Event Logs: Check the Windows Event Viewer for any relevant error messages or warnings that might shed light on why the backup file is disappearing.

  3. Use Different Backup Location: Try creating the backup on a different internal drive or an external drive to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if it's specific to the destination drive.

Feel free to update the thread if you have any questions.

Thanks in advance!
