Hello EDV!

Those errors may suggest corruption of the backup files.

Please validate them to check their integrity.

Alternatively you can create NEW backup plans for those VM's and check if they work.

Regarding the Snapshot tools in the VM's they must be working. Please test them creating and deleting manually the snapshots on each VM: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.hostcl…

If that fails I suggest you to fix the native tools re-installing them or contacting VMware to help you because those tools should be working properly. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2004754

Thanks in advance!

Hello Jose,

thank you for your response. I have already recreated the backup plans, but unfortunately it didn't help. The VM snapshot tools are working without any issues. Do you have any other ideas?

EDIT: I also activated backup validation, but it didn't help.

Hello!

I would suggest the following:

  1. Check the permissions on the file being backed up and ensure that the user running the backup has sufficient permissions to access the file.

  2. Check the file system for errors. You can use the "fsck" command to check for errors on the file system.

  3. Check the hardware for issues. Check the system logs for any hardware-related errors, and run hardware diagnostics to check for any issues with the disk or other components.

"Input/output error". It could also indicate a problem with the file being backed up or the storage media.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Check the destination path and ensure that it is correct and accessible. Verify that the SMB share exists and the user running the backup has permission to access it.

  2. Check the network connection between the ESXi host and the backup destination. Ensure that there is no network congestion or packet loss between the two.

  3. Try backing up to a different destination, such as a local disk ( as a test ) to see if the issue persists. This can help narrow down the problem.

 Thanks!
