How Will I Know When My Questions Here Get Answered?

Thread needs solution

How will I know when my questions here get answered?

Will I be notified by email?

I don't see anywhere to specify if and how I want to be contacted.

If you require actual Acronis support you need to contact Acronis via their support page, if on th eother hand you hope to see if the user base might have the answers, you will just have to take pot luck that someone will read your post and feel motivated enough to answer it.

Acronis moderators do appear here and do sometimes provide support, but this is a user forum provided by Acronis. Do not forget that it can take up to 24 hours for some one who is going to answer a post on the forum to actually see the post due to the fact not everyone in the world is going to be working in the same time zone or viewing the forum in the same time segment.

There now appears a "Notify me when new comment are posted" checkbox near the lower left of this page. It is checked. Hopefully it works. I didn't see that before.

Actually, I'd appreciate that being clarified: I see that checkbox, but it only shows up when I *reply* -- That box doesn't appear when you do a 'new topic' [and indeed, try though I did to get that set, I did get a reply to a topic I'd posted and was not notified]. Is there some way to make the 'notify me' happen on posts you originate in addition to replies. [I was tempted to make an empty reply to a recent post just so I could ensure I get notified]. tnx. [as a side note/suggestion: it'd be nice to have as part of your profile being able to select "always notify me of replies to topics I initiate"] /bernie\

Bernard,

You can elect to be notified for all your posts in your forum account.

Click on My Account in the left margin and then select Edit.

I'll just mention that that seems not to be working. I have that set [to notify me] and I posted something yesterday, it got replied to a few hours later and I have *not* received a notification. I did receive a notification on my reply to this thread [where I expclitly set the 'tell me' box] but not, apparently, on posts I originate. Dunno why not...

I think I understand what's going on: the profile setting for getting emails of all posts to the forum *doesn't*work*. BUT: the "notify me when new comments are posted" does. With one exception: the profile setting problem supersedes it, and so if you originate a thread, even if you reply to it, you won't [or at least i never do!] receive email notices. But if you reply to someone else's thread, the email notices work fine.

Just to clarify, from my own experiences, this is what happens:

1. You need to select to enable notifications in your profile (as Colin mentioned above) to get notifications. This will enable the checkbox on any comments you post by default.

2. If you create a new topic / thread, you *will not* get e-mail notifications on it. To get such notifications, you have to comment on your topic / thread with the above-mentioned checkbox enabled. I haven't actually tested this, but just following what should logically happen, that's my guess. Bernard might indeed be right.

3. The only way (I can see) to stop these notifications is via the e-mail you get with one such notification. There is a link which will allow you to do that.

It would be great if this could be improved. What I'd love to see is:

A. Ability to subscribe to topics / threads you create without having to comment.

B. Ability to subscribe to *any* topic / thread without having to comment, as well as the ability to subscribe to forums (i.e. to get notified of new topics / threads in the forum, which you could then individually subscribe to if desired).

C. Ability to centrally manage (i.e see and remove) all your topic / thread / forum subscriptions.

These types of things are available on most forums, so I'm not sure why they aren't available here?
