Easy question? re: Acronis Drive Cleanser " Failed to write to the sector 601,153,024 of the hard disk 3 "

Thread needs solution

Easy question? re: Acronis Drive Cleanser " Failed to write to the sector 601,153,024 of the hard disk 3 "

As you can see from the picture, I have a message showing a disk write problem at a sector.

I wish to keep the hard drive - assuming that there are not too many more hard drive errors.

Retry just returns to this message.

If I press Ignore ALL will that 'map out' any faulty sectors permanently?

If they are mapped out, does that mean that future formatting with NTFS on this drive will still not use the faulty sectors, or will NTFS format the disk and leave faults there?

Thanks

Pete

Just had a follow up support call from Acronis. (Thanks!)

If you are reading this because you 'Googled' and have the same problem, the simple bottom line is that the hard drive is bust.
It is not likely to be the computer's controller that is bust - because you can actually access the drive.

Whilst reformatting may help temporarily, it may not actually mend the actual errors on the platter, and it may not actually map them out. It may also spread errors. Therefore it cannot be relied on.

Replace drive
