Help with Migrate easy 7 Trial Version
Hey guys,
I recently downloaded and used Migrate easy 7 Trial Version to clone a 40GB hardrive to my new 500GB hard drive. Everything worked out perfectly except, 15 days later, my new hard drive won't even boot up. I have no problem paying for the product, but now I cannot even start the computer.
Does anyone know if this is how the free trial works? Or is this just a hard drive failure?
I also did a diagnostics scan on the hardrive, but everything passed.
If this is due to the free trial, can i go back on my old hard drive to pay for the program and boot up the new one after i payed for it?
Thanks for the help!!!

Colin,
Thanks for the fast reply! There is no error message at all. It's like I start my computer with no hard drive at all. I took the hard drive out to make sure it was not loose. Same result. My OS is XP.
Im thinking it would not be a virus. I ran a full virus scan with McAfee before and after the disk was cloned. I have no idea what it could be.
Thanks again for the fast reply and all your help.

William,
It looks as though something else has gone wrong with your drive and it was just a coincidence concerning your drive.
If you have an XP installation CD to hand, then you could try remaking the MBR using the recovery console - boot to recovery console and then try -
fixmbr
fixboot
If that fails, you could then try repairing the installation, which will require the XP CD. Run the CD as though you were going to install XP, but you should get an option where XP will ask if you want to install or repair - select repair, this will revert all your Windows system files back to the original and remake the MBR. You will lose all updates and service packs that are not included in the installation XP CD that you have.
You might also try before attempting the above, to boot into Windows safe mode, and see if disabling some start up programs or services might bring the actual Windows back to life.
Press the F8 key after your PC displays the BIOS checked hardware list.
