I have a question

Thread needs solution

I purchased Acronis Home 2012. I previously had 2010.

When it runs a scheduled backup sometimes it does something I do not understand and hopefully someone can explain to me.

Last night it started and ran for awhile then started a another backup with a bunch of letters ande numbers in the file name. I have attached a screen shot of this.

It eventually finished and exited without error. Why did it create the 2nd file and what is the purpose of the letters and numbers in the name?

Hopefully someone can explain this to me.

Thank you
Montie

Montie,

Those are True Image intermediate files, there are a number of reasons why they might appear and then disappear.

Do you have some form of consolidation of your images?

This would be the main reason why the file was created - a temporary file is made containing the updated contents of for example six increments being consolidated into a full, once this has happened the origianl files are dleted and then the temporary file is renamed with your normal image name. Another reason why this might happen is if during the running of a task something causes True Image to pause, such as the PC going to sleep or disk full etc, when it can continue True Image starts another file and then blends them together at the end.
