MigrateEasy won't install after True Image

Thread needs solution

Dear all,

I've recently purchased a bundle that consisted of

(a) Acronis True Image Home 2010, and
(b) Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0.

I've just installed (a), and it works fine. Unfortunately, when I try to install (b), I get the following message:

Cannot automatically install the following products since their newer versions are already installed.
Try to manually uninstall them before installing these older versions.
Acronis True Image Home

This is the first time I've installed an Acronis product on my machine. I've scanned my disk, and there's no trace about a previous version of (b).

Thanks, RC

Rafael,

True Image contains Migrate Easy, it is the Clone feature in TI 2010, this is why Migrate Easy won't install because TI 2010 is newer than ME.

If you really want to have both, it might work by installing ME before TI 2010.

Was this an Acronis offer, because it seems a weird combination to sell as a bundle, sheer duplication.

Dear Colin,

Thanks for your answer. Yes I bought this bundle as a special offer (from a local retailer).

Hi
So does this mean that one can use the clone feature to "Migrate" the entire system including ALL the installed programs and files (say drive "C") to another drive (Say "J" either external or internal?) and then if "C" hard drive blows up one can install a new HD and then "migrate" the clone backup back to the new "C" drive and not have to reinstall programs??? LOL (How was that for a long sentence?)
Thanks
Sherwood

Hello Rafael,

Collin is absolutely correct and Acronis Migrate Easy is already built into Acronis True Image 2010 Home. This is the reason you cannot install it on your machine.

As for the bundle from your local retailer - this is really strange. Acronis itself never bundles these 2 products as it does not make much sense. You can find our official bundles and special offers here.

Sherwood, to answer your question - yes it is possible to use clone function in the scenario you've described, however it is not really recommended. Cloning feature was designed for migration purposes, that is transferring the content of your entire HDD to another one say for system upgrade or HDD replacement. One should keep in mind that it is not recommended to have 2 absolutely identical systems in a single computer. Once you boot into one of them with cloned HDD attached both windows installations can be damaged and become unbootable without each other. Having said that we recommend to use backup feature in your scenario.

Feel free to post your questions should you have any.

Andrey.
