Recovery for Exchange Tape-Unit not in "Backup Location Selection"

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I can't seem to backup to the TAPE-UNIT attached to the localserver where Exchange 2007 is running on.
A backup to a fodler works fine.
The odd thing that I installed Acronis Backup & recovery as well on this system and this program sees the tape-unit just fine (COMPAQ SDLT320).

Do I manually have to add the tape-drive to the Acronis Recovery for Exchange?

TIA for the info,
Martin

Hello Martin!

Thank you for reporting about the issue and let me help you with it!

Unfortunately at the moment it is difficult to say what is going wrong due to we do not have any screen-shots or the information regarding the configuration of your system and the tape drives.

First of all please kindly make sure that you are using the latest build of Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange, it should be the 220 one. You can find the latest build by logging into your account and going here.

As far as Acronis Backup and Recovery identifies the tapes correctly, than the tape itself is fine, and probably the issue was caused by the lack of configuration. Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange  works with tapes in a bit other manner than Acronis Backup and Recovery does, so first of all please kindly check whether everything is set as mentioned in the Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange  User's Guide chapter 5.1.9, page 36. (Please kindly pay attention that you need to have the cartridges moved from the Unrecognized or  Import media pool to the Free Pool using the Removable Storage snap-in (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Removable Storage -> Media Pools).

Should you have set everything as specified, we will need some additional information to be able to successfully investigate the issue and provide you with the solution. Could you please kindly do the following?

  1. Please kindly take 2 screen-shots: 1. the screen-shot of the issue 2. the screen-shot of the tape settings (RSM)
  2. - Download AcronisInfo
    - Run the downloaded file.

The gathered information will be put in AcronisInfo.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.

This information will allow us to take a closer look at the Acronis product state and logs.

Please kindly contact me with this information, I will review it and provide you with the solution.

Thank you in advance!
