Restoring to a SSD, but when HD image was made on SATA HD
An Acronis image backup requires that certain hardware be exactly the same ;i.e. motherboard, etc.
But is the actual hard drive form factor part of this requirement? In other words, if I create am image backup of my laptop computer HD (with SATA hard drive) , can I replace the SATA with an SSD, and try to restore the image to this SSD?
Thanks.

Thanks so much.
Just to understand. I think you are saying is that once I restore the image to the SSD, the only really software that I use in the future that interacts with the new SSD 'disk signature' is most likely just Acronis software.
I then really have to throw out all previous Acronis backups that were based on the SATA disk signature. Is this correct?
Interesting that no other software really gets involved with the SSD disk signature.

Ronald,
When you restore the hard drive to the SSD make sure you tick the disk signature box, otherwise your current tasks won't run when you restore. If you don't tick the box you will definitely have to remake your tasks.
All your previous images are usable, just if you select to restore the complete disk you must remember to tick the disk signature box. All new images and tasks will be OK. If at a later stage you just need to restore a single partition the disk signature is of no consequence.
Other software that might require the old disk signature is any software where the licence is 'node locked', often this type of software uses the disk signature to tie it to a PC.
