Snap Deploy 3 for servers (build 3329) - Problems deploying to Dell Poweredge r610

Thread needs solution

I've created my master image with Snap Deploy 3 for server. My master image is a Windows 2003 R2 server on Dell Poweredge r610 servers. When I attempt to deploy the image to my other bare metal Dell Poweredge r610s using the snapdeploy agent from bootable media, I notice several errors as the snap deploy agent starts from my bootable media. The first error is "No raid disk" and that message is followed by "no group volumes". The snap deploy gui then loads and the image seems to transfer. When the server reboots it stops after posting saying "error loading operating system".

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Aaron,

Let me assist you and give some points regarding this situation.

You have mentioned that image was taken from r610 to r610s, I assume that hardware of those servers is dissimilar, is that correct?

Does it have some RAID controller? Since the error is related to detection of RAID installed on new machine. Especially to the lack of drivers for this RAID controller. That's why you're not able to boot your OS.

Please note that in case of dissimilar hardware deployment you should use Acronis Universal Deploy option, which allows you to select new drivers for HDD controller, pointing it to the driver file in .inf extension.

Acronis Universal Deploy module is the implementation of the unique technology developed in Acronis that allows changing Windows Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL.dll) and device drivers.

It is designed to allow a machine to boot its operating system initially after a restoration/deployment of an image to hardware that is different from the one it was taken from, and then proceed with the installation of other drivers and configuration.

So could you please make sure that you're using this option and pointing Universal Deploy to correct driver?

The general description and common usability procedure of Acronis Universal Deploy is described in 2.5. Chapter of this User's Guide.

Please let me know whether this helps you to resolve this situation. Also, feel free to ask me if something is not clear for you in my answer, I'll do my best to provide as clear instructions as I can.

Thank you.
