Using Easy Migrate 7 to clone a raid 5 array to a single 3tb drive.

Thread needs solution

I currently have a raid 5 setup using 3x 1tb wd black drives. I would like to clone the data over to a single, brand new 3tb wd black drive.

In preparation, I have gone into windows disk management and converted the new 3 tb drive to a GPT disk, which then allowed it to recognize the full 3tb instead of 2tb.

When going through the automatic steps of cloning the raid volume to the 3 tb drive, Acronis still only shows the destination volume as 2 tb instead of 3.

Is there further preparation that needs to be done for this to work? Are there any problems with my wanting to clone a raid array to a single disk? Should I be doing it a different way?

Also, assuming this gets resolved and I successfully clone to the new drive, I just wanted to make sure I will be able to keep the original drive's letter name, thereby maintaining any project paths that I currently have. Will I have to give it a new drive letter during the cloning process, and then afterwards reassign the original letter once my raid array is removed?

Any advice is welcome. I can upload screenshots if necessary, but I think it's pretty cut and dry.

John,

I don't think ME 7 is able to recognise 3TB drives. It hasn't been updated in a long while unlike the Clone component in True Image which has.

Just to be clear are you starting the clone from within Windows or from the recovery CD?

Cloning a drive that contains the OS should be done from the CD so that Windows is not booted at any stage.

Check if the recovery environment can see your disk.

Is your OS XP?
