Mental anguish

Thread needs solution

I am writing to express my level of outrage at the failings of this program. I am running Windows 7 and have been for about three weeks now, I was also running True Image 2009 until it somehow became corrupted and impossible to remove. I tried reinstalling the program but I keep getting this message.

"The older version of this product cannot be removed because it seems to be corrupted."

I have been through the forum pages and I have tried every solution that anyone has tried to offer including this supposed to clean up utility that does not work in Windows 7 64-bit. I have cleaned out the registry using the instructions provided by others, this has gone on for about a week now, and I'll tell you that I am not just exasperated, but also really pissed off. The last time I saw crap like this was years ago with Norton but at least they came to the realization that something needed to be done and so they created a removal tool which really works. Why can't you people do that? Mine is not some irregular occurrence it seems because the forum is full of people with similar problems.

I have gotten my Windows 7 to run exactly like I want and all my other software is working just fine. I used True Image 2009 to create a backup about 10 days ago which I used but the program has the same problems. Now what? What kind of program will not install over itself these days? This is an outrage and of all things, this is backup software, which has caused me more problems than any program I can remember in years.

What the hell am I supposed to do now?

I fear that you are going to get even more frustrated at how long it takes anyone from Acronis to respond here.

For me - 6 days and not even a "we'll get back to you"!!

Yeah thanks for that and I feel for you man. It looks like this is a Russian company so it may not be their fault that corruption is so rife it cannot even be avoided by their software. Now that's corruption. But all kidding aside, they really need to do something about this. I'm going to use the windows 7 backup for now but I'm going to be backing up this problem as well.

It seems that upgrading wouldn't change anything because the problem is the same according to others in this forum. The only difference is I would be parting with more of my hard earned rubles. No thanks I paid already, I just want this to work.

If possible, start a fresh Windows 7 install, add your apps and try the Macrium backup software. It was mentioned recently here very favourably.
