12 hours to backup microsoft outlook email?

Thread needs solution

I'm evaluating this product on Win7 SP1 64-bit.
On a brand-new clean installation I created backup profiles for
1) the system partition (C), chained versions
2) a data partition (D), single image
3) Document Collections, chained versions (files)
4) Office Outlook Email, incremental backup (files).
Performing C and D backup was a breeze, about 20 minutes each, all went well.
Then I started the Outlook (file) backup and it took ATIH about 10 minute to estimated 12 hours to complete the backup. That can't be right! 12 hours to backup a tiny fraction of disk C, which itself takes 20 minutes to backup?
So I interrupted the Outlook backup, and restarted the computer.
At which point the ATIH backup list showed that all four backup had been completed. That's wrong, only backups 1 and 2 had been completed. Backup 3 (outlook) had was interrupted, and backup 4 (document collections) was never started.
So I started the document collections backup, which failed after 20 seconds.
Questions:
- Has anyone else seen this type of office outlook backup problem?
- How long would an ordinary outlook backup be, say, for 1000 text messages with 10% pdf attachments?
- Why did the document collections backup fail, and how do I clean it up so that it can start properly?
- Any other thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your remarks.

Can you post a screenshot of the log that shows why the file backup failed?

ATI is infamous for showing time estimates that are out of whack. Let the email backup complete to assess the situation. I cannot tell you how much it typically take, because I never use it. I backup my outlook file within an disk and partition backup.

If you are new to ATI, remember to include the system reserved partition (if you ahve one) in your system backup.

Thanks, I will follow up with the log screenshot when I'll be back back in my office. Besides the 12 hour time estimate, what threw me off is that it took ATI a good ten minutes to even produce an estimate. But you're right, let it finish the backup to know how long it takes.

I looked at the logs and they just say "analysis error(0)" (translated). Then I noticed that the FILE backup tasks (#3 and #4 in my OP) had mutated into two malformed PARTITION backup tasks. I don't know when that happened - maybe as a consequence of canceling the outlook backup tasks, who knows. Anyway. I recreated proper Documents and Outlook backup tasks - not without harm, because when I deleted the malformed Documents tasks ATI deleted the tib file of partition task #2! That's a major and dangerous bug, IMO. Anyway, the recreated Documents backup task worked fine. On the other hand, the recreated Office Outlook task took 11 minutes to estimate a 17+ hour backup time. I let it run for 30 more minutes then I canceled the Outlook task. The progress bar hadn't moved from the first notch. True, it's a 3500+ message folder, but 17 hours is a very disappointing (projected) performance. And the fact that ATI deleted the wrong tib file scares me.

Make sure you have only one Outllook profile on the computer. You can use the Mail control panel to ascertain this. Delete any non-user profile. Not sure this will help your case, ...
