Acronis True Image Home 2012 prompts for reboot every time I try to start it.

Thread needs solution

On a Windows 7-64bit PC, for no apparent reason, I started getting the following message every time I try to start it:

The older version of the Acronis product component has been detected. The computer must be rebooted for correct operation of Acronis True Image Home. Do you want to reboot the computer now?

I have tried repairing the installation, restoring to a previous point in time, completely uninstalling and running the ATIH 2012 Cleanup Utility and then reinstalling ATIH, and today I installed the most recent version (6154) and I still get the reboot message whenever I try to start ATIH... and yes I have tried rebooting numerous times.

The reason I noticed the problem initially, was a backup that I have to a network share on this PC failed because the share could not be accessed and I was trying to determine what that problem was when ATIH started giving be the reboot message. I think the problem with the network share was I had a net use lpt2 definition to a printer share, which ATIH doesn't seem to be able to deal with.

Strangely my scheduled backups are still running, I just can't get into ATIH to change anything. I have ATIH running on 2 other Win7x64 PCs without this problem.

I'm stumped, does anybody know what's causing this or what else I can try?

Hello James,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum.

Most likely this issue is caused by an Acronis driver, it is either blocked by a third party application, there is a conflict or it became corrupted. Do you have other Acronis software installed on this machine?

I would recommend the following. After installing the latest build, apply a drivers update which I will send you via a private message in a few minutes.

If you are still having issues, please send me an AcronisInfo report.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Almost an identical problem (same system, error message, etc)
The problem for me started when I let the application update. From that moment on, I have been receiving the same error message as the OP here.

It's an endless cycle.

After uninstalling all Acronis software, I downloaded and installed the latest build (ATIH2012) and entered the upgrade serial number as well as the 2011 serial requested. The installation seemed normal, and asked for a reboot at the end.
I rebooted, launched, and once again ended up with:
The older version of the Acronis product component has been detected. The computer must be rebooted for correct operation of Acronis True Image Home. Do you want to reboot the computer now?

I followed your link to download and run the app for the AcronisInfo report, and just when it seemed to work, BAM! "Acronis Reporter has stopped working, etc..." (the typical Win7 message) Only option is to click "Close program."

When I do so, the cmd window updates telling me to provide C:\AcronisInfo.zip to Acronis Customer Central representative and to press any key to continue. Needless to say, the zip file is never generated.

What now?

Same problem here...

Please private message me the driver update so might try it.

Any other help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, am still awaiting the mercy of Acronis trying to solve a problem that apparently plagues many of you and they simply don't care past their 30 day warranty. Still getting older version of the Acronis product component has been detected. The computer must be rebooted for correct operation of Acronis True Image Home. Do you want to reboot the computer now? I downloaded the cleanup and completely inspected the registry on my i7-930 Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 windows 7 x64. I even posted (uploaded the Acronis Info file to them and still no answer!

Well, I'll get another worthless backup and try.
