ATIH file name conventions

Thread needs solution

Can anyone explain what the numbers in the ATIH file naming scheme mean? I mean in file names like " ....._(1)12". For example I have one set called ....._(1)12 and another called ....._(2)10. Are they truly independent - can I delete one (via ATIH) and not affect the other? Which is the file that ATIH needs to know about as the 'master' of a set for recovery - presumably either the first or last in the number sequence?

If Backup is the name of your backup, then:
- Backup2, Backup3, etc are partial backups (incremental or differential) on top of Backup
- Backup, Backup(1), Backup(2), are full backups

For example: Backup(2)3 is the second partial on top of the 3rd full.

Any partial is completely dependent on the corresponding full. Any incremental is dependent on all the previous backups (incremental or full). Any differential is only depending on the full, but it is not recommended to delete intermediary differential manually or with ATI (although it should theortically work).
