Unable to explore backup or restore
Had no issues with previous version. Using TIH 2012 with Win 7 64bit
Backup seems fine and correct size. Any attempt to explore tib via windows or to use as a backup leaves nothing happening even though task manager says TIH running.
If I try via the 'Get Started' tab I slect the backup and say restore. I then get a new window headed up with the backup name with My computer on the left hand side but nothing else. If I select the empty tick box nothing happens (waited up to 30 mins) - it just sits there.
If I cannot recover anything from the backups then the program is useless. The manual does not seem to correspond with what I am seeing - am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for this - will try as it really seems not to be working properly.
Will look for the download version but not sure where?

Found both the TIH and the plus pack and downloaded.
The basic program will not install as it says the programme has requested the Runtime to end in an unusual way.
Should I try the plus pack which I also have installed ?

Well I installed the Plus Pack again. Not sure if it helped but managed to browse a different backup. So have deleted backup that could not be read and will backup again and see what happens/

Uninstall the Plus Pack
Uninstall ATI
Run the True Image 2012 Clean Up Utility found here. http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545
Follow ALL the instructions, until the very last!
Create a clean boot environment with msconfig (disable all non-Microsoft services, all startup items)
Reboot
Reinstall ATI and the Plus Pack
Verify your problem is solved
Put msconfig back to where it was.

Chris... like you I have used TI in older versions (and on a daily basis) but TI2012 and W7 x64 is causing me many many issues.
The folks on this forum are doing their best to help resolve the issues but I feel there are serious flaws in the program.
I found I had to do 3 restarts to get TI to enter the recovery mode. I could select a backup and got as far as the "Acronis needs to restart" box but after that the process hangs with a black screen and large "Acronis" showing at the top left. It should go from that to recovery but hangs at that point needing a forced shutdown and restart back to Windows to attempt it all again. You say task manager shows Acronis as running. This is one of my issues as I was finding multiple instances of trueimage.exe running. I found if I ended all processes first and then opened Acronis it worked.
BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE LIKE THIS should it Acronis ?
I am currently trying with ALL Acronis items disabled in MSCONFIG (as I only ever run TI manually) to see if that improves things.
At the moment I feel let down by the product and its many issues and would seriously look elswhere for imaging software. Macrium perhaps.

Sympathise with you - before I was always confident it would be available to restore any bits and pieces that need replacement but now not so sure.
Seems to be working now but will not know until I do another fresh backup in a week or so. I have one large HDD of about 1.3GB data to back up and it used to take just overnight but last time took over a day!
I had a number of external HDD to keep a few versions but last week in deperation purchased a USB 3 HDD even though I have plenty of space on my exisitng backup drives. At least this got me back to an overnight backup.
I think the programe has got too clever at the expense of basic performance and functionality.
Before resorting to the nuclear option which has been helpfully uggested above (and gratefully received thanks), I will see how the next backup fairs as maybe the re installation of the plus pack has fixed things. However don't expect the speed to have improved but we shall see.

Hi Chris,
Yes, I never though I would have a bad word to say for Acronis but TI2012...........
My backup method (laptop) is to put the .tib files onto the D partition and move vital ones over to an external drive as and when.
I find it pretty quick, taking around 20 minutes or less to back up a 160gb partition (not full though).
If the files (.tib) are there somehere :) I have never had any issue in reinstalling from them once I can get the product to open and run.
To clever by half... definitely. When the basic functions fail it's no good.
Hope you resolve your issues anyhow... I'll keep looking in.
