replace one disk in spanned dynamic gpt volume
i have four dynamic gpt drives in a spanned volume. the disks are filling up and i would like to replace one of them with a larger drive. it seems simple enough to just take one of the drives and clone it to a new (larger) drive and then insert it back in the box and windows 7 wouldn't know the difference.
however, in practice when i take one drive out of the spanned volume i can find no way to clone it and all the data has to be rewritten from backup. this seems like a waste and it takes a lot of time to write 6 tb of data.
marketing for TI Home Plus Pak talks a lot about backing up and restoring dynamic drives but nothing specific for a dynamic drive from a spanned volume.
has anybody tried this? is it possible?

Just to add to Pat's reply, if you clone a GPT disk it will not be bootable either.
