Restore/Virtual Image

Thread needs solution

I have completed a partition backup from my Vista computer and would like to restore it onto another computer running Windows XP Professional. How do I go about this? Can I create a virtual image so that I can launch my Vista backup on my XP computer? Or can I just restore my Vista image onto my XP computer?

Alan,

Restoring an image of Computer A onto Computer B typically requires drivers to be updated (in particular the disk controller).

If the 2 computers are absolutely identical, this is not needed.

Otherwise, this driver update can be done through the Universal Restore feature of ATI. This feature is activated in the recovery medium that you create after having purchased and installed the Plus Pack.

Note that universal restore is not fool proof, but is often the best thing to try short of reinstalling everything.

If I purchase the Plus Pack, will I need to perform my partition back over again so that it contains the Universal Restore feature when I go to restore it onto Computer B?
