no space on device

Thread needs solution

Hi,

i am using true image since years now, backup works fine. but yesturday i wanted to restore a backup and true image said that i had no space on the device ...

i made a clean new backup to an external usb device.
When backup was done, i clicked on restore ... true image said that my hdd is to small for the restore ?!?!?!?!

What is wrong?

Why i could not do a restore on the same disk i was backing up?
Updating to the latest version does not help!!

any idea?

thx

What kind of partitions do you have on your system and that you are backing up? You can print a screen shot of the Windows Disk Management Console and post it here...

Do you have the sector by sector option selected when you backup (not recommended) ?

Do you restore from the recovery CD (recommended)?

Hello Bjoern,

Thank you for posting this question.

For recovery actions, that should recover entire partitions, disks or volumes, you should use the bootable media. The most probably reason for this message is, that you try to run the recovery of an entire partition, disk or volume from running windows and you did not have enough free space on any disk to restore your backup there.

For restoring a data partition, it is not necessary to use a bootable media, but if you want to overwrite your operating system, it is recommended.

Thank you.

Ok,

yes it is the system partition, but i had in mind that this works before....

i will try is using a bootable media.
