Can't resize partition

Thread needs solution

Helleo,
I've just purchased DD 10.
I try to expand a partition and it isn't working.
No error, no log...

My configuration :

Vista Familial Premium Edition SP2
1 Hard disk 465 Go
2 partitions : C: 40 Go D: 425 Go

I try to Expand C: to 80 Go

After applying waitings jobs the OS reboot, DD 10 ask me that tasks are complete but no way, the C partition is always 40 Go...

What can I do now ?

It's strongly recommended to have an Entire Disk Image backup prior to making any partitioning changes.

Try booting to the DD CD and doing the changes. Also, do them one at a time: Resize D: smaller and apply the change. Resize C: larger and apply the change.

If the DD CD has problems seeing the drive(s), download the DD ISO file from your acroins account and create a CD using it. That version contains more updated drivers than the one you can create with Media Builder.

Do you have a standard Microsoft OEM or retail Vista DVD? If the starting sector changes for the Vista partition you may have booting problems and need a repair.

Hello Wilfrid,

There are several steps that you can also try:

- Temporarily detach any USB storage device that is plugged in. Perform the operation with the USB storage device detached.

- If you have an in-built card reader, then disable it through Windows Device Manager:

  1. Hit Win-R to get to the command prompt;
  2. Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter;
  3. In the Device Manager window locate your card reader (it probably starts with letters SD, MMC etc);
  4. Right-click on the card reader and select Disable.

Perform the operation.

And you can apply the workaround mentioned by Mudcrab, you can try performing the same operation from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media.

Thank you.
