Disaster Recovery Using TI 2009 on Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Hello,

My computer - most likely the motherboard- has died. I will need to replace the computer. Fortunately I have a very recent image and a very recent data backup using TI 2009. The old OS was Windows XP, the new will of course be Windows 7.

So my question is, how do I proceed to recover my data and programs. I have never done this before. Do I install TI 2009 on the new computer? Is TI 2009 compatible with Windows 7? Can I selectively recover data and programs?

Thanks

R

You can recover your files from the old image but all of your programs will have to be re-installed on the new machine. Read Grovers Guide http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 section 3 HH. You will want to install 2009 on the new machine. I believe its compatible with WIN 7.

Version 2009 was NOT designed for Windows 7 and installation onto Win7 is not recommended.

It is possible to do full disk backups from the bootable media and to perform disk option restores. These type backups and restores have been reported to work by other users.
