Error recovery in a virtual machine
Hi, i'm trying to recover a backup online into a vmware virtual machine. When the recovery process begins, Acronis interrupt it with an error (it seems that something is wrong with the virtual disk). Anyone had the same experience?

I give you some details. I'm doing a test failure in case my physical server has a problem. I have a SBS 2003 with 2 hdd (no raid) of 465GB each. I've done a backup using the cloud offer of Acronis, so my backup image is actually in the cloud. I did a virtual machine with my vmware fusion using 2 small hdd of 65GB (my physical machine does not use all capacity of hard disk, but few giga), i started the acronis recover disk iso in my virtual machine and i started the procedure to make a restore of the image in the acronis cloud. For restore I checked the box "Universal Restore".By The way, the error appears immediately after hte restore start:"Command 'Recovering volumes/Managing ASZ/Applying AUR' has failed" Error Code: 61 Module: 309 Lineinfo: 4a8728dc8a1c94f4 Fields: $module: mms_bundle_glx_pic

It's a 'top level' error that doesn't tell much about the reason of failure. To obtain full log after failed operation, go to menu Navigation->Log , select Display: 'Events' and choose 'save all to file'.

Ok...as the only way to export the registry is in xml, i used an xml viewer to copy the informations you need. I'm really sorry, but the informations are in italian, i think you can understand the errors anyway, but if it is necessary i can try to translate it for you:

The reason is that you requested restore with UR, but license for UR is not available. In theory, license for UR is always available when recovering from Online Backup.
Now questions -
What license keys type did you use to create the bootable media (when media builder asked for them) or did you download it from your account (what keys type are registered there) ? If there was some, try to create bootable media without any keys, (media builder will warn you that it will be good only to perform restore from online storage, that's normal). It it was "online-backup-only' media already, can you try to perform (or at least start performing) the restore without using 'universal restore' just to check whether using UR causes the problem and restore will run further without it.
*edit* - if you installed media builder on the same machine as agemt it will take agent's key (trial) and will not let you create online-backup-only media. You can use help->change license to change license to online-backup-only one, create bootable media and then change it back to trial, or (probably better) install media builder on another machine without agent and create the media there.

I'm using an evaluation version of Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 and I creat the Acronis Media Builder using the wizard inside the program. Probably you're right, i'm trying to restore using Universal Restore but without the key. I will try to restore (but i already did it) without check the box, but the error appeared if i remember...I will let you know.

It's some days that i'm trying to restore the image throught the backup online, with the Universal Restore disabled, but after several hours,Acronis restarts and interrupts the restore.

As it's a VM, you can try create a VM with two disks, install an OS on one of them, install Backup&Recovery there and restore from online to the second disk. And/or contact support.

I did it as suggested me, at the 36% Acronis interrups recovery with following errors (in italian i'm sorry):

It looks like some unstable glitch, and as it's related to interaction with online storage that you can't check yourself, you can try again or contact support or check if it is goes better with Backup & Recovery 11.5 (ABR11.5) beta ( http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/beta/ ) or wait till its release.

Hi,
are you using Backup to Cloud?
You can check the certificate validity as described in 57417: Acronis Storage / Acronis Storage Gateway: Backup Fails with "sslv3 alert certificate expired".
Please provide some more details, which product you are using and full error message.
