No New Disk Director Until Second Quarter 2010 ??

Thread needs solution

The Preamble... =========== After purchasing both ATI2009 and DD10 in September this year (and getting a free upgrade to ATI2010 because it was within a month of that new relase) I had issues with Acronis True Image and my thumb drives. DD10 installed a different SNAPAPI driver than ATI and that caused further conflict. Upshot... I was not able to run DD10 on my system at all (and have never managed to!) My resolution to being able to run ATI2010 was to purchase and install Windows 7. This was recommended to me by Acronis Support. This fixed True Image and finally I have that running smoothly under W7. However Disk Director 10 is not compatible with Windows 7 and Acronis support were unable to resolve issues around bootable media not recognizing my SATA drives. To cut a long story short Acronis Support offered my money back as a final solution to Disk Director 10 and it's incompatibilities with Windows 7. I took them up on that offer. What interested me however, and others may find interesting is the following taken from the Acronis staff member who dealt with my refund in reply to me asking when a new version would be available. The Crux Of The Matter...

I find this situation outrageous. I bought DD10 on 31/07/09 and downloaded it straight away. I installed it successfully on my Windows 7 laptop (running the final Release Candidate of Windows 7) and it works perfectly. I created the ISO for the bootable CD (including TIH 11.0 which I already had). It all works like a dream although I haven't tried booting from the CD on a Windows 7 system yet.

This week, I downloaded the latest build of DD10 (2239) and it said that my system was not compatible! I re-installed the original build that I downloaded in July (2160) and hey presto - it works a treat again!

I have concluded that Acronis have actually (perhaps unwittingly) REMOVED Windows 7 compatibility from DD10. I just hope this isn't a marketing scam to force everybody to upgrade when DD11 is finally released. We'll never know...

If anybody reading this wants a copy of DD10 build 2160 which works with Windows 7 (at least for me) just drop an email to johnc at smileit.co.uk and I'm sure we can sort something out. Obviously I shall only supply the executable and not the license which is required for installation - buy your own, I'm an IT professional and would never condone piracy!

Hello all,

Heath,

I deleted the quotation from your communication with Acronis support, you are unable to post any private communication (e-mail, chat logs, private messages) without the  express permission of all the parties involved into this communication. Please see Forum rules. Thank you for your understanding.

John,

Thank you very much for your readiness to help our customers to obtain build #2160. I can propose everyone who needs this build to send a Private Message to any Acronis Moderator, we will take care about the request and will send the installation file.

I posted the explanations on why the possibility to install Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 has been disable in build #2339. Please see post #20 in this thread.

Thank you.

Hi Oleg,

It would seem that the "Private" info received by Heath should be made "Public" if it in fact
will affect US ALL...

Hi Oleg,

Sorry about that - Have to admit I hadn't actually read the forum rules. Fully understand.

Cheers
