Clone Destination greyed out / not selectabe
I have a new WD VelociRaptor SATA Hard Drive, that I have in a StarTech USB Enclosure. My intentions are to create a Clone of my existing Seagate HD to the new hard drive, but both through Windows and through the boot disk the Destination / New Disk is Greyed Out.
I tried using the WD Alignment Tool and it says that everything is aligned. I am using the Acronis TrueImage Home Plus 2012 with the latest updates. What else is holding this up?

Yes the 250GB is the new one. Because the unit still has time left on the service contract I was hoping not to have to break the seal on the case (which would void my service contract), which is why I opted for the Enclosure. I just want to make sure that when the service contract runs out I am covered.

If you are not going to put the new drive into your computer, why not just make a full disk backup image, using Acronis, to your new drive. You could always use the image file to restore/recover your system. Making a clone is of no use to you if opening the case voids your warranty. (I would look at another service contract/service provider if I couldn't add memory, upgrade my hard drive or add a second drive without my service contact being void.)
If you still wish to clone your drive, you could run the Windows diskpart command line utility to wipe the new drive then have Windows re-intialize the drive. After that you could attempt to do the clone again.

I have had backup images fail too many times, because there is no real way to verify with out writing the image to another disc and trying. I can verify a clone simply by telling the bios to disable the primary and boot form USB.
In the event that I have a hard drive fail I pull out the verified clone and as soon as the service tech shows up I give it to him and I am up and running again. They then just send me a new hard drive, and I didn't loose anything.
In the past I have always used HD Clone without any problems. Acronis had a couple of features that sounded really good so I thought I would give it a try, and now I can't get it to do the basics.

Okay, got it. Try wiping the drive with Diskpart (using the "clean" command and having Windows initialize the drive and then try again. Could be an issue with the drive format itself. Starting with a newly cleaned and initalized drive would be a good test.

Tried it several different ways, with no luck, 100% with Windows, with the add new disk option in the tools and with the command line Diskpart as well. No Luck.
Any other ideas?
(incase I forget, Thank You for your assistance)

Only other thought is Acronis doesn't like the StarTech enclosure. Have you tried the clone to this drive with other software?
