Nonstop backup not working after resuming from sleep mode
I have discovered that NSB (build 7133) is not actually running after my computer resumes from sleep mode.
The system tray icon indicates NSB is started, but the NSB files had not been updated for 10 hours (when the computer went into sleep mode).
Attempting to restart the afcdpsrv.exe service through services.msc fails with code Windows error code 1053.
Resource monitor Analyze Wait Chain shows the afcdpsrv.exe process is waiting on itself. The child processes ID's do not exist in the PID list. The child process ID's are lower numbered than the root process.
I had to end the process tree, stop the service in services.msc, and then start it again in order to get NSB running again.
Also, the TIH software will start the TrueImage.exe process, but will not display the GUI before this is done.

Antron,
I added this case information in hopes it has been addressed in the TIH2013 release. Support has informed me that I will reveive an upgrade to TIH2013 when released due to my continuing NSB problems.
To date, support has gotten NSB to start functioning again only through workarounds. I don't believe they have addressed the root causes for its failures. I have been using the workarounds each time NSB stops working. I see two major problems:
1.) NSB runs out of space without warning. Support said this is never supposed to happen, but it does. The only solution offered so far is to lose a previous NSB data by a combination of deleting the data, removing and reinstalling TIH, etc. This remedy renders NSB to being useless.
2.) NSB stops and does not restart itself as it is supposedly designed to do. There is no indication as to why it stopped in any log file, and only sporadic indication by the system tray icon that NSB is stopped. I believe my post 34621 may reveal some insight as to why NSB is not functioning correctly.
Specifically for #2 above, it appears that the process afcdpsrv.exe is waiting on itself. If this process is intended to be able to call itself, it MUST be designed to be reentrant. The child process must properly return to the calling process its status, and the calling process must take into account all possible returned statuses, including the failure to return its status in either a timely fashion or not at all.
I look forward to hearing about Acronis' thoughts on this issue. Please note that I am set to receive email alerts when this topic is updated. This function no longer working. Neither my pop3 nor webmail servers have any posts from Acronis that this topic had been updated.
