Backup FileName Options
I just upgraded from Home 2011 to Home 2012.
In the past I added the %date% to the backup file name. There is no option to do this in the 2012 version.
Yes, it's in the documentation and the doc says "Click on the down arrow to the right of the filename to see the options". On my screen I click the down arrow icon but I am taken to the disk backup options screen.
I searched the KB and the forums but no joy for an answer.
Is this a known issue or am I really missing something?
How can I tell the program to create a unique filename for each backup?
Thanks for your help and time.

John,
Are you creating a task or editing a task? I would not try to change the TIB file in am existing task. I am not sure this is possible anyway. Suppose it is, doing it will create sources of confusion and errors at restore time.

It was an edit to an existing task. I tried adding to a new task and it seems to work just fine. Thanks
Another simple question. There are colored vertical bars to the left side of the task. Does the color have any significance?

Yes the colors indicate the type of backup (non stop, file, disk and partition, email, sync)

In the user guide it gives the color associated with the backup type. It indicate a "Time Line" in the Backup Explorer.
How do I get to the Explorer? My color bars are on the left side of the screen and they are violet which indicates a disk backup.

Click on the gear icon on the far right hand side of your highlighted backup task in the Backup and Recovery tab, select Explore and Recover.

Brett & John,
This link may be of assistance. Brett, look at figures 6-7-8 for more info about naming the backup file.
