Acronis True Image Home 2013 build 5551 RescueCD inserts file not found warnings into the log file
Boot the RescueCD and backup a large (30GB) ext4 partion containing data. After the backup completes, a the log file will contain a handful of warnings for the backup portion and then again for the verification portion. These errors are NOT related to the data on the ext4 partition!
1. Backed up the source partition with TI 2012 build 7133 to folderA
2. Restored folderA to unallocated disk space using TI 2013 build 5551
3. Beyond Compare reported that the source and target partitions had identical file content
4. Backed up the source partition with TI 2013 build 5551 to folderB
5. Observed the warning mentioned about.
6. Restored folderB to unallocated disk space using TI 2013 build 5551
7. Beyond Compare reported that the source and target partitions had identical file content
Should I expect that a linux OS in an ext4 partition (which has many files owned by root) will also be backed up as reliably as the data partition mentioned above (where all files are owned by a user) despite the error messages?

Using the RescueCD, after the back completes, an option exists to view the log.
In the log I found 12 warnings where each implied that a file (which file ??) did not exist.

Yes. OK.

I understand now. You saw some warning that some file did not exist, but you don't know what file was referenced and the meaning/impact of it.
Could you take a screen shot of that screen with a digital camera?

Additional testing revealed that TI 2013 was able to back up and restore an ext4 partition containing a linux OS.
1. Back up the source partition using TI 2013
2. Restored and older backup of the same partition using TI 7133
3. Restored from the TI 2013 backup
4. System works.
The hard drive containing the source partitions is organized as follows:
1. Primary ext4 swap partition
2. Primary ext4 emergency partition (repository for critical images)
3. Extended partition which contains logical ext4 partitions that I backup/restore via True Image Home
My guess is that the FALSE messages concerning non-existent files is related to the fact that the developers expect winDOZE files on the NTFS partition and freak out when they cannot be found.
Message to developers. Acronis True Image is the BEST product available for backing up/restoring ext4 partitions. winDOZE fanbois are not going to use the RescueCD unless they have to, so if you determine that a winDOZE file is missing, IDENTIFY it by NAME.
