New to Acronis Installation
Hey, I am new to Acronis and would like to change all my customers from Symantec from once and for all, I am tired of failed backup jobs all the time.
My question is: I would like to know if this will work (possible scenario).
1. Can I install the console and management features of Acronis in a PC running Windows 7 Pro?
2. Can I just install the agent in a Windows 2008 Server and not have any other management software loaded in the server OS?
3. Can I choose from the management console where I want the backups files to go: example, local disk in the management PC, NAS or SAN?
4. I will need backup to cloud in addition to local backup.
I have been reading documentation from Acronis and looks like I will be fine and for what I want for my customers I will need Acronis Server Advanced Edition.
Just wanted to run this here and see if I can get confirmation from Acronis
Thanks
Stan

Thanks for your reply, helps a lot, I just got little confuse with the storage node part, that is why I wanted to make sure I order the right OS for the computer/server.
My plan is to build a media computer/server and use that storage for backup jobs, is this what you call a storage node? I have 2 opportunities now, one is for a small account where I would like to use a pc running Win7 and store backups inside + the cloud option, the other account is going to be a server for sure running 2008 and lot's of storage internally + cloud, which lead me to my next questions, do I need a exchange license for exchange? etc.. for any other windows server application?
Thanks for your help

Nothing prevents usage of desktop OS for a storage node, but - desktop OSes are limited to 5 inbound connections. The next question is do you need a storage node component at all - unmanaged vault can be created on a Windows shared folder or on a NAS and doesn't require installing Storage Node. Managed vault requires Storage Node. If you have tens of computers backing up to the same vault, then performance of unmanaged vault degrades comparing to the managed vault, because they use file-based locks to share access to the vault. It managed vault it is controlled by Storage Node.
Note that for (+ the cloud option), in ABR11.5 with a feature of replicating backup to cloud storage, it is possible to replicatie archives from storage node as well as unmanaged vault to 'cloud' but it will be performed by the same agent that created the backup.
