Main hard drive not found when trying to recover
Hi
Last night i was infected by a rundll32.exe running at 50% processor power constantly. I used registry easy to scan the pc and it cleaned up lots of things but did not stop rundll32.exe running. i tried to restart the pc to see what that would do (there where lots of other options in registry easy but i did not get round to using them)
The pc went into a loop of start screen, spash screen, select which mode to start in (safe etc) it will not start in any mode.
I have attempted to use True image 10 start up disk to begin the recovery process,
In full mode it does not find the single 1GB SATA hard installed on the PC but finds 2 backup files on seperate USB HDs, one it only finds the folder, the other it finds the correct files (unfortunatly the oldest backup.
in safe mode it recognises the main 1GB SATA HD, but does not find the backups.
I have tried to formatt the disk again but it only allowed me to formatt 7GB
I am running XP Pro on a machine that was new in June, the backups are about 175 GB.
Can anyone please advise?
Thank you
Peter

if i download this to my laptop will i be able to use it to make a Boot CD that will recover the PC?

Yes, you will be able to make the boot CD, (and 4942 is the latest build for Ver 10) but it may not have the Sata drivers built into the boot CD. However its worth a try.

Hello Peter and DwnNDrty,
No worries, I will take care on this situation and assist you to get correct CD which can detect your hard drives.
As you correctly mentioned in your PM to me - this issue is related to lack of drivers for your HDD controller in our boot media.
I have sent you a link to download the ISO file with updated drivers.
If you are not familiar with ISO burning, please check this article.
Please let us know the results, I would be glad to assist you further.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

I have a new ACER M3642M.
I created with TI2009 under Vista a compleet backup.
Trying to restore it with TI2009 I got a black screen after the acronis screen.
So I downloaded TI2010 and tryed again but now my hardrives are not recognised.
Trying it from Vista to restore the system is after the reboot unable to read the file.
If its really a driver problem in the CD can I get the ISO file?

Why aren't these updates made available on the website for all registered users of the product? why must they be handed out via PMs and "secret" links? The driver issue is so common, I'd think it would be in Acrons's interest as well as the users' to more easily get updated driver sets.
