Should I upgrade?
I accepted very early in its life an upgrade from 2009 to 2012. This was not a happy experience. It took a couple of later builds before I felt comfortable. So question - what are peoples experiences of going from 2012-2013? What are the recommendations of the experts?

My advice just now is no, you should not upgrade. The previous reply advises uninstalling 2012 first and then installing 2013. I am not sure if this is possible if you just buy the upgrade and not the full package.
I have posted request for help because my system became unstable after installing 2013, and no two boot procedures were the same after upgrading. I cannot adjust settings to the way I want the package to function. Even in the help manual the image of the non stop backup box does not have the cogwheel icon that is supposed to be there. I am very very disappointed with TIH 2013.
The pc was so unstable I have just removed 2013 and returned to 2012. Boot up was normal and I had no need to start up repair, or got the BSOD, or have to system restore. The only restore now is peace so I can get on with my work!

Thank you both for taking the trouble to respond. Since build 7133 currently causes me no sleepless nights (consolidation is still an issue) I will stay with 2012 for the time being.

Good decision - I returned to 2012/7133 after very much trouble with 2013.........

Actually I believe you can. If I remember correctly, if you are installing the upgrade license and no prior version is installed, it asks for a valid serial number of the license you are upgrading. Haven't tried this with 2013, though.

If you are installing an Upgrade version of 2013, when you enter your 2013 serial number, 2013 will recognize that it is an Upgrade serial number and prompt you for your older version serial number. You do not have to have your older version installed. As others here have posted, some folks have had problems installing over older versions. 2013 can only be installed over versions 2011 and above. In place upgrades on systems with 2010 and earlier are not supported.
