Backup of particular partition taking a Long Time, Please HELP !!!

Thread needs solution

I have True Image Home 2012 and it is updated. I am on WinXP. My computer has a lot of drives and partitions. 4 Drives 2TB each and my last partition is U. I know this is a lot. I back up to a 12TB Buffalo NAS. Most of the partitions back up within a reasonable amount of time. I do a Full, the 2 incrementals before another full is made. I keep the last 2 backups and then the older is deleted. On my drive U the backup gets to 98% and then after a couple of hours it gets to 99% then after a while it is finished. THe backup does not take long to get to the 98%. Seems like it hangs there but I do see network activity between my NAS and the PC. THis partition is 465 GB total and I am backing up about 315GB. Other partitions are similar. Any Ideas to get this partition backed up more quickly?

THANKS

The first thing to do is to run chkdsk X: /r from an elevated command prompt where X: is each partition you are backing up, starting with the one that seems to create problems.

THANKS for the reply. Wouldn't the disk monitor status keep this in check?
I have...
Monitoring mode: S.M.A.R.T.
Current disk health: 100%, degradation from last report: 0%

Check the settings for the U: backup task and see if you have consolidation turned on. You may want to compare the settings for the U: backup task with some of your other tasks to see if the settings are similar.

S.M.A.R.T. doesn't do any checks on the file systems on the drive. You would still need to run chkdsk for that.
